Glass Water Goblets
It is always good to make changes in your home and
surroundings. A new plant or a change in drapes, these are small changes that make you happy and give a new
perspective to a room or hall. Using glass water goblets instead of regular glasses will have the same effect at
your table. They serve the same purpose but they are nicer and the most important factor, they are
different.
Glass water goblets have the same price glasses do. They hold
the same amount of liquid and do the same function. They are dishwasher safe and can be used on a day to day basis
in your home. Some precautions must be taken when purchasing your goblets though. The main point is to buy goblets
with strong stems. A thin, fragile stem will break and cause accidents if not handled with care. Chose glassware
that is made with denser glass, the same kind used to make everyday use regular glasses. You are looking for sturdy
goblets and not fine delicate party glasses.
The points made above have greater importance if you have
children at home. If this is the case, make sure you do not buy large goblets. They are deceptive to the eye.
Children tend to fill their glasses up when they drink, if your goblets are too large you will soon find half full
glasses all over the house. Make sure they do not hold more than seven or eight ounces.
Another important thing to take into account with children is
to make sure that the stem is thick and easy for them to hold onto. Children have problems holding on to a thin
stem, make sure your goblet’s stem has about twice the thickness of a pencil. This will make it easier for them to
hold it when it is full. A little schooling may be necessary for the smaller children too. Show them how to take
the goblet by the body with the stem between their fingers and they will last a long time.
To add some spunk to the change try to buy colored glass
goblets, find a neutral color that is not too flashy. Light red or green are nice colors that will add light to
your table. You will have to pay a few cents more for these but your family will appreciate the change and
specially the fine, new glassware.
We all have established routines that we go through day after
day, after day. Wake up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and go to bed. It is important that once in a while we
stray from our routines and do something new. It gives us a fresh perspective and makes us happy. Buying glass
water goblets instead of regular glasses does not seem like a big deal but it is. Any change, big or small; feels
important when you are caught in an endless circle. Try it and you will be pleasantly surprised when you see you
family’s reaction.
